It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new Owner and Director of Bangor Montessori School. I am honored to have the opportunity to again lead a school with such a rich tradition of Montessori education!
As many of you know I have been a part of the Bangor Montessori School staff family for 17 years. From 2001-2005 I was a teacher working side by side with the wonderful (and sadly, now retired) Peggy Mathews. I was the Director of the school from 2004-2016 and from 2016-2019, I have been an Education Consultant, working with the staff at Bangor Montessori School and other schools in the Central Maine area. Prior to living in Maine, I was a teacher in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In all, I have been working in education for 22 years.
The staff and I are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever! Jackie Dimmock will continue as my “right hand man” and continue her role as our Assistant Director and Pre-Primary Teacher. Our amazing Kate Sims will also continue as our Lead Teacher in the Primary classroom.
I believe children in “early education” have a tremendous curiosity and capacity for learning. The teachers and I will encourage these characteristics to help your child learn and grow. As educators and mothers, we value a strong academic foundation in a safe and caring environment. This is what our school is designed to be.
This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. I am committed to continue the legacy of success that Bangor Montessori School has established for 31 years.
As the Director, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors; teachers, students, and parents are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of Montessori excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.
